Grads Prepare for Their Day; May 23 Reception Added

The countdown has begun for impending graduates of Western Nevada College.
As the one-month mark nears to WNCs three graduation ceremonies and reception, the graduates are taking care of arrangements for their big day.
Drive-through ceremonies are scheduled Monday, May 23 and Tuesday May 24 on the Carson City campus and Thursday, May 26 on the Fallon campus. All three ceremonies start at 9 a.m.
The May 23 ceremony is for Liberal Arts grads: Associate of Arts and Associate of Science degrees. On May 24, Associate of Business, Applied Science, General Studies and; Bachelor of Applied Science degrees and; those earning Certificates of Achievement are among the honorees. The May 26 ceremony is for graduates residing in Fallon and surrounding communities.
In addition, WNC Interim President Dr. J. Kyle Dalpe has scheduled a reception for graduates from 4 to 6 p.m. May 23 in Carson City. Graduates can bring up to two guests. Graduates have been notified by email that its essential to RSVP if they are planning to attend the ceremony and/or reception.
If graduates didnt previously order their caps, gowns and tassels online at wncbookstore.com, they should purchase them in person. The cost for a cap, gown and tassel is $26; a cap is $9.95 and the tassel is $6.

Students can purchase commencement regalia (caps, gowns and tassels) and return their books in personon the following dates:

  • Tuesday 5/17: Hours 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Decorations of graduates caps, gowns and celebratory vehicles (each grad is allowed no more than two) are welcomed. Grads are asked to show good taste with these decorations. Graduates also have the option of walking across the stage without the use of a celebratory vehicle.
This marks the third straight year that WNC is presenting its commencement ceremonies in a drive-through presentation. These ceremonies have been a huge success and there has been plenty of positive feedback from students and their families and friends.
For family and friends of graduates who are unable to attend commencement in a celebratory vehicle, all three ceremonies will be shown live on the WNC homepage.
