WNC's College & Career Readiness program focuses on helping students access postsecondary training, explore job opportunities, and fill high-demand positions. Our goal is to help students transition into jobs that offer both a solid career path and a family-sustaining wage. Are you looking to learn English? Our English Learner Services (ELS) program provides free, non-credit classes for adults learning English as a new language. These classes accommodate learners at all proficiency levels, from pre-literacy to advanced.

Part-Time Instructor for Non-Native Speakers

This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position.  Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to establish an applicant pool.  As vacancies occur, they are filled from the pool. This part-time position will teach free non-credit English classes to speakers of other languages for the College and Career Readiness - English Learner Services program. These classes include phonics/conversation, Citizenship, ESL beginning through advanced levels, English Language Transition, and Family Literacy. These classes do not follow the college semester and are often taught during non-conventional college times or dates. Instruction includes following and creating curriculum, attending paid professional development opportunities, supporting students in setting and meeting educational goals, administering assessments and tracking attendance data. Paid training and professional development is provided for all aspects of this position. These positions are available at locations throughout the WNC service area.

Part-Time Instructor, High School Equivalency Preparation

This posting will be for English Language Arts Instructors. This part-time position will teach free, non-credit High School Equivalency preparation classes for the Adult Education program. Subject areas include math, writing, reading, social studies, and science. These classes are often taught during non-conventional college times or dates. Instruction includes both following and creating curriculum, attending paid professional development opportunities, supporting students in setting and meeting educational goals, administering practice tests and tracking attendance data. Paid training and professional development is provided for all aspects of this position. These positions are available at locations throughout the WNC service area.

Part-Time Student Worker / Support Staff

The College & Career Readiness Student Employee supports the day-to-day operations of the department by providing excellent customer service to students, staff, and visitors, both at the front desk and over the phone. Responsibilities include assisting with test setup and payment processing, maintaining organized workspaces and office supplies, supporting registration and orientation events, preparing program materials, and helping with data entry and mail distribution. The role requires professionalism, integrity, punctuality, and respect for a multicultural environment, as well as the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality and a clean, welcoming space. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
